"Overcoming Obstacles as an Engineer in Portugal"

I am Juan, one of thousands of immigrants from Colombia. A few years ago, my family had the opportunity to move to Portugal. At that time, I did not realize that the migration experience was full of challenges and obstacles. I thought it would be an easy process to overcome. However, looking back on the past, I realize how wrong I was.

One of the biggest challenges I am currently facing is finding a job in my field. Portugal does not have an equivalent for my profession in Colombia, so finding an opportunity that matches my skills is pretty difficult.

As I navigated the job market in Portugal, I took on various roles, including working as a content reviewer and in some call centers. Like many other immigrants in the same situation, I was frustrated and disappointed with the professional life I was leading.

Nevertheless, after taking responsibility for my thoughts and for the wisdom of God, I realized that even though these jobs may not have been my dream job, I could still be excellent in them. As the author of "So Good They Can't Ignore You" writes, "The key to the passion hypothesis is not that you have to do what you're passionate about, but that you have to be excellent at something in order to love it."

I believe that God has a plan for my life and that I need to follow it and be excellent in whatever I am doing. I take this mindset with me as I continue to search for a job in my field. However, I have to admit that I haven't found the right job yet, but I am not going to give up. I will keep trying and encourage the readers to do the same.

Along the way, I have found amazing people who have helped me grow as a person. They have supported me through difficult times and shared their own experiences with me. They have taught me that in life, sometimes the most valuable lessons are learned through the struggles we face.

As the Bible says in Proverbs 16:3, "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans."

In conclusion, the migration experience is never easy, but anything is possible with the right mindset and determination to follow one's dreams. My story is a testament to this, and I hope that it serves as an inspiration to others who may be facing similar challenges in their own lives. Remember, never give up on your dreams and keep trying. Even though I have not found the right job yet, I will keep trying and never give up on my dream.
